Dr. Reder grew up in Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor before heading to California to attend Loma Linda University for both a master’s degree in Anatomy and a Medical Degree.
Moving east, Dr. Reder was in Austin TX for his internship program then went to Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore Maryland for Ophthalmology residency. A love of travel prompted Dr. Reder to do an international fellowship with ORBIS, however the tragic events on Sept 11, 2001, shortened the fellowship, and Dr. Reder moved back to the West Coast to join the Valley Eye Institute in Fresno, CA. In Fresno, Dr. Reder specialized in Senior Eye Care & advanced cataract surgery and was the Director of both the Valley Eye Institute and the Valley Medical Plaza, Ambulatory Surgical Center.
In 2021, Dr. Reder had the opportunity to sail for an extended period of time. Amongst innumerable highlights, he fondly remembers diving the Blue Hole in Belize, having killer whales next to the boat near La Paz, MX, and experiencing bioluminescence during new moon night sails in the Pacific Ocean.
In 2024, Dr. Reder moved back to the Central Valley to join Eye Surgical and Medical Associates. Dr. Reder is happy to announce his dog Barkley has also moved to Visalia and prefers the stability of living on land over life on a sailboat.
