Glaucoma

a potentially sight threatening disease

Glaucoma is a potentially sight threatening disease that does not have symptoms in the early stages. Annual eye examinations that include screening for glaucoma are important and part of the services Eye Surgical & Medical Associates offer to their patients. If glaucoma is detected the doctors can prescribe different treatment options. Treatment options are:

  • Medications that work by increasing the flow of fluid out of the eye, helping to lower the intraocular pressure (IOP).
  • In-office laser treatment that can effectively reduce the intraocular pressure (IOP) for most patients. For laser treatment our doctors use Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT). The SLT is a safe and simple in-office treatment.
  • Surgery may become a treatment option if non-surgical methods fail to lower intraocular pressure (IOP). Our doctors can offer Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) to treat these kinds of cases.

This was by far the best experience I’ve had with surgery.
